Fine. Let’s see if everyone manages to comment.

Anti-social behaviour is widely observed everywhere. Mostly we see it on the streets. Examples of that behaviour include: •

aggressive begging •

street drinking

• setting off fireworks late at night

• dealing or buying drugs on the street

Of course we have to fight with it. How we can do it?

There are many methods. The first step should be a talk with those people, who behave in a wrong way. I think that teachers should be really interested in those things, they should talk with parents, friends of those people and try to find the case, the reason why those people do that.

Secondly, if there isn’’t any improvement, there should be some intervention from the police. An investigation should be conducted, and of course, there should be a punishment. If the guilty person says, that he is sorry, he should have some public works.

Anti-social bahaviour has a really big and bad influence on other people, and make our environment worse. If people see that they aren’t punished because of it, there probably will be more and more cases of bad behaviour.

Artur: Personality

Everyone agrees that two the same personalities do not exist. Each person is more resistant to different factors: some  people get stressed because of school or work, some worry about what others say about them and some don’t. Thanks to that life is much more fascinating. All things around us and our reference to them creates our personality.

In my opinion the factors which influence us at most are other people. There is a lot of research which says that the way how people behave depends on their surrounding they live in. Most of people inherit their points of view, behaviors from their parents, family, friends, people who have common contact with them. Our personality is created during all life. As the time goes on, our personality circle changes however some of factors still stay close to us.

Although some of us would like to be more independent from some things they will always have some influence on our life.

Ewa: On Curfews

I hope you’ll appreciate Ewa’s interesting post.

Did you know that in some parts of Europe there are still curfews? It’s quite strange, because we all have thought, that the “era of curfews” has already ended, haven’t we? In fact, an example of this can be Wigton, in England, where the police have slapped a curfew on hundreds of teenagers  under the age of 16.

Police there have warned, that any youth under the age of 16 caught in designated parts of the town after 9pm without proper supervision by a responsible adult or a family member will be taken home. There is also a new legislation which says that the police can force groups intimidating and  harassing passers-by. Punishment includes jail and/or a fine as high as 2,500 pounds.

In fact, this could stop youths behaving inappropriately and make streets safer, but on the other hand each teenager wants to have as much freedom as he can and it would give them another reason to fight with law.

So… would you mind if police could take you home at 9pm? Do you think something like that will work in Puławy?

Simon: On Politeness

Great! What a good kick-off of the next semester!

Do you remember these times when your parents often asked you to be polite. You probably did not like it. People don’t like when someone gives them orders . But was is really useless? I don’t think so. It is much easier to live in nowadays world if your parents taught you some good manners.

I would like to ask you if you like it when someone is talking to you using some vulgar phrases, especially when he just can’t talk without it? It is very important not to insult someone when talking to him etc. You might loose friends, people might think about you like a vulgar and rude.

Another profit of being polite is that you can make a good first impression of yourself when you open the door for a girl, or using nice words. Scientists say that first impression is most important when you want to pick up a person who is close to your heart.

As you all see being polite might be very useful for you, and pleasant to your surroundings. Most people like it when others are kind to them, they don’t like rude “creatures”. It is also very nice to hear it when someone is talking about you as a well-mannered person, isn’t it?

Daniel: World War III?

Daniel presents a sci-fi vision of the future. Or will it be true?

Nowadays we have got many conflicts in the world. Russia vs. Georgia, Israel vs.  Palestina in Gasa Strip, Russia vs. Ukraine about gas, but will it really be the start of  World War III? Many people say yes. Sure, the world in fact is crazy and anything can happen here.

In my opinion the next war can take place, because all governments of different countries are able to make an unexpected move. We just can’t predict it.  After watching last conflicts we can’t say what will happen. If it starts I think Russia will be the first  and the most engaged country that will join it. Allies as always will behave indifferently and wait till they are in danger. The USA and the UK tactic is that they wait till smaller countries do their job and then they join and say they won a war.

As we can see Russia and Iran want to show off and influence on everything that happens in the world. Summing it all up I can say that World War III might happen but people are unpredictable. We can’t see the future but we can at least try to avoid conflicts.

(2CAE Post) Simon: IP Rights

Too bad it’s not our Simon.

Imagine someone copied your post on our 1FCE blog and signed it with their own name. Your thoughts presented in your own individual way would be from then on associated with someone else. How would you feel about that? Would this person be a thief or just an artist ‘inspired’ by your great ideas?

This is the problem of intellectual property rights. In times where many new things come into existence, law which protects authors is indispensable. Take, for example, music industry. To record a CD in a professional studio (average standard) it costs about 3000 or 4000 PLN (about 700/900 Euro and about 1000 USD). We have to add price of a booklet, pressing, and record label, all costs totalling 8000 PLN. In addition the price of work, stress and time is uncountable! Two weeks before premiere CD flows into the Internet, with scanned booklet and in ‘great’ 320 kb/s quality. And can a band get a satisfaction from millions downloads from rapidshare?

Internet piracy is not only example of breaking an ‘intellectual property’. Take fashion and the question of fake brands. We see on some markets very cheap products from Nike, Adidas, Puma. We all know that these are not clothes from this companies, they’ve got only an inscription,a catch on which the sellers want us to impale. In France and Italy police or boarder officer can check if products we’ve got are original. For having ‘fakes’ fine is to 300 000 euro to sentence to 3 years’ imprisonment. Polish law is still very lenient which in a way morally justifies violating intellectual property rights.

Our country is traditionally very religious. How come that our societies so easily exploit someone’s work or brand? Do you personally feel like a thief when downloading an MP3 on the internet? Why/ Why not?

Dominika: Art & Patriotism

OK, hope you’ll enjoy Dominika’s post.

Undoubtedly the work of writers who were writing about Poland when it had many problems, like war or partitions, helps us to understand how big  sacrifices have people made, to let us live in a free country. It shows us that they were real patriots.

Nowadays, young people do no’t have to show their patriotism by  fighting. It’s very popular to make some projects, like performances, exhibitions or auditions based on poems written by our writers. It doesn’’t help teenagers only, but also children. It i’s fascinating for them to see plays about history, to see people in old clothes, who are  fighting for their country. It shows respect and love, which people have for Poland.

The creativity of our writers helps us also nowadays. We learn from them, that we have to cooperate with another countries to live in a good world.

Enjoying Christmas as we are, we must ask the question if we really understand its meaning.

Christmas is now the best time to see and buy something for our family and friends. We spend it in the warm room, at the table with parents, grandparents and cousins, talking with them about nothing. We eat kilograms of food and of course unpack the presents. But do people
really remember what they celebrate? Have you ever thought why you are
with the closest people in one time and in one place?

Crazy Christmas starts already in November, a long time before real Christmas atmosphere. It is great opportunity to make business and commercial holiday. This special time makes us being less concerned about money and the way how we spend it.

In this chaos people forget to go to church, or maybe think for a while
about the cause of special time called Christmas. We do not think about others who are not as lucky as we are, who do not have presents and who are happy because of sitting together near the small flame of fire.

Of course I am not saying that we celebrate Christmas in the way which we should not but if you really think about it, you will see that something could be wrong.

(3FCE Post): Rafał: His Post

Enjoy!

Last Friday we were talking about love to our motherland. We were doing some presentations about people, who did something great for their countries. The first presentation was about Lech Wałęsa – the second post-comunism president of Poland. The second one was about Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi – the man who changed the whole India.

For sure every country in our world has some hero, somebody who did something great for his motherland. I think that love for country is one of the most important kind of love, if we can say that there are some kinds of love. By the way, does anybody believe that Lech Wałęsa was a secret SB collaborator? I think it could be possible, but he has so many enemies who want to destroy his opinion, that it could be just an aspersion. Even if he was a collaborator, he did a great job for Poland.

At the end of my post i want to ask you something, is patriotism something important in today’s world? I mean, because we’re in the EU we should forget about our national egoisms, shouldn’t we?

Maciek: I Love ‘Love’

Maciek’s post really touches hearts and makes you want to fall in love with someone.

LOVE – what is it? Is there anybody who knows the answer? There is no definition. Everyone describes that feeling in his own way. But… do everybody know it?

Fact: loving and being loved is a big deal. You have to overcome your weakness and sometimes compromise… so what about arguments? What will world look like without them – a little bit boring and unexciting. However when it is time to apologise, two people in low look deep in their eyes and you can see the how strong a feeling love is.

Kisses, hugs, nice words – they aren’t the most important case in the relation ships between two people. When you are with your girlfriend or boyfriend, when you’re kissing, when you look in you eyes the world doesn’t exist. There are just two of you and that is the most important thing.

Love is also jealousy and trust. Without that there’s no chance for happy live with second person. But on the other hand jealousy can’t be taken too seriously. Everybody wants from time to time feel like a free bird…

Love is a strong feeling and I think we should be careful with it because we know what she can does wit us… it has power and can take control of our minds.
